Upcoming Events
Below are just a few of the events for the coming year. New Orleans is an unusual city with a party attitude. The people are fun and unusual, ok, people say we're colorful, outragious or just downright crazy. We prefer "eccentric." We'll throw a parade at the drop of a hat. We even have a party & a parade for our dead. The Chalon House is located in one of the few neighborhoods that still has Jazz Funerals. You'll hear the Band playing, see the horsedrawn glass hearse & the people dancing behind it with colorful unprellas. Grab a drink & join in, it's considered rude if you don't.
Mardi Gras
Jan 6th thru Feb. 21th
The parades start Jan 30 and continue thru Fat Tuesday. Mardi Gras Balls are starting and tickets are available to most of them. If you've never been to a Bal Masque, you've missed out. Email for a list of Krewe Balls and dates. We can purchase your tickets for you.
St Joseph's Day Parade
March 6th
The Italian American Marching Club is one of the largest ethnic organizations in the Southeastern United States. It's objective is to keep the Italian heritage prevalent in New Orleans, the destination of so many of forefathers in the 19th and 20th centuries.
St. Patrick's Day
March 17th
New Orleans has a huge Irish population and the French Quarter has several authentic Irish Pubs. There's a couple of parades over St. Patrick's Day and a lot of celebrating.
April 3rd & 4th
Old Algiers RiverFest
Fun on the Mississippi in Historic Algiers, one of New orlean's oldest neighborhoods.
French Quarter Fest
April 9 thru 11
This is my favorite and the the favorite of most locals. Bands are set up in several locations down Bourbon & Royal Streets. The Mint, Jackson Square & the River Walk all have a stage & booths set up with food from our best restaurants. You can walk from one area to another and listen to all of the music Louisiana is famous for. The best part is that it's FREE!
PyrateCon
April 16-18
This is a fun annual event, The French Quarter is filled with pirate performers, re-enactors, living historians and casual pirates to come together from all over the country. There's of course a "Pirate Parade", booths and lots of swashbuckling fun. Come on down & find your own pirate or wench.
Jazz Fest
April 23- May 2
Annually drawing tens of thousands of fans each of its six days of activities, the Festival will be held at the Fair Grounds Race Course and run from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Ten stages of simultaneous music programming are complemented by an important, unparalleled Food Fair offering more than 100 varieties of authentic Louisiana cuisine and a stunning array of one-of-a-kind crafts available around the grounds in the Festival’s juried crafts areas.
